Noah's Daily Reading

Every morning, Noah, now an old man with arthritis and cancer, reads the notebook aloud to Allie, who does not recognize him. He sits by her bed, puts on his glasses, and uses a magnifier to read the story. He hopes for a miracle, that she will remember him. The nurses whisper about him as he passes. He reads the story of their love, from their first meeting to their reunion. After he finishes, he closes the notebook and wipes his eyes. Allie stares out the window, not looking at him. He waits for her to speak, knowing that sometimes, after he reads, she remembers.
