the final day of treatment
Demonstration of the Cure
Alex is dressed in his old clothes and given back his cut-throat britva. He is brought before an audience of officials, including the prison governor, the chaplain, and the Minister of the Interior. A man insults and attacks Alex, but Alex is unable to fight back due to the conditioning. He instead offers to lick the man's boots. Then a beautiful young woman is brought in, and Alex, instead of feeling desire, feels sick and must resort to chivalrous language to avoid the nausea. The demonstration is a success, and the officials are impressed. The prison chaplain, however, expresses moral qualms, arguing that Alex has been robbed of his ability to choose good. The Minister of the Interior dismisses these concerns, focusing on the practical benefits of the technique.
