Release from Prison

Alex is released from the State Institute and given a small amount of money. He is now a 'cured' citizen, incapable of violence. He walks through the city, feeling alienated and lost. He buys a newspaper and sees his own picture, hailed as the first success of the new treatment. He feels a mixture of pride and despair. The release marks the beginning of Part Three, where Alex must navigate a world that has changed, both externally and within himself. He is free from prison but trapped by his conditioning.
