Murder of the Cat Lady

The gang goes to the Manse in Oldtown, home of a wealthy old woman who lives with many cats. Alex attempts to gain entry by pretending to need help, but the woman is suspicious and threatens to shoot. Alex climbs onto the roof and enters through a window. Inside, he is attacked by the woman and her cats. In the struggle, he strikes her on the head with a silver statue, killing her. The police arrive, alerted by the woman's phone call. Alex's droogs flee, and Dim, in a final act of betrayal, chains Alex across the eyes, blinding him temporarily. Alex is arrested by the police. This event is the climax of Part One, leading to Alex's imprisonment and the end of his life as a free gang leader.
