Eighty Years of Hated Rule Background The Harkonnens have held Arrakis for eighty years, hunting the Fremen for sport and extracting spice. The desert people survive in hidden sietches. Secret Strength The Fremen are far more numerous than the Imperium knows, and they pay the Guild to keep Arrakis unobserved. Their culture is an armed camp. Dream Liet-Kynes has taught them to believe in eventual victory through ecology. The hate of Harkonnens is a religious flame.
Resisting the PogromResisting the Pogrom
Resisting the Pogrom Massacres Glossu Rabban and the Sardaukar kill thousands of Fremen in a brutal campaign. The tribe retreats deeper into the desert. Guerrilla Justice Fremen ambushes, captured guns, and sandworm raids slowly bleed the occupiers. Each death is paid for in water. Gathering Fedaykin Paul's training converts a scouting resistance into a coherent army. The Fremen are ready to fight for more than survival.

Rites of War Death Chants The Fedaykin go into battle with chants of Muad'Dib. Their death commando mindset makes them fearless. Water Reclamation After battle, Fremen recover water from the dead, whether friend or enemy. The cruelty of the desert is fused with religion. Prophet's Standard Paul's green and black banner becomes a symbol of doom for the Harkonnens. The resistance has become a holy war.

Worm Riders The Fremen ride a massed wall of sandworms into battle, shattering the Imperial line. Fedaykin leap from the worms with crysknives and maula pistols. Liberation Arrakeen falls, and the Harkonnen rule is ended. The Fremen have freed their world at the cost of a new messianic war.
