Gun Demon Incarnation

Gunsoul

Gun Demon Incarnation is a Gun Path technique that transforms its user into a physical reflection of the soul. For Yuan Guang, it begins as a dangerous, temporary surge of power, but its repeated use leads toward a more radical change: a body that no longer needs a human shape as its vessel. The technique’s arc therefore joins combat ability to self-recognition, making the form both a weapon and a measure of how far Yuan Guang has moved beyond the limits he once accepted.

Nature and Appearance

Arc selects Gun Demon Incarnation as the Gun Path innate technique to engrave into Yuan Guang’s core and flesh. She explains that its operation is a continuous alignment: by cycling Qi, the user brings the bullet-core and body into accord with the soul. The result is a brief transformation into an Infernal, a weapon-demon of gun violence. The state does not simply supply an external weapon; it gives bodily form to the soul’s spiritual reflection.

The physical change makes that principle visible. When Yuan Guang first reaches the form, he gains a new and powerful body; in a later transformation, his arms and head become weapons, while thrusters on his back propel him forward. The shape is at once bodily and mechanical, joining the user’s own limbs to armaments and means of propulsion. This is not described as a disguise or equipment worn over an unchanged body: the transformation alters what the body itself is able to do.

Arc’s manifestation offers a distinct, detailed picture of the same technique. Her flesh becomes sleek steel, while her skin takes the form of ethereal black leather shaped from woven shadows. Her clothes disappear, replaced by gear born from her spirit: a skull-adorned dark cloak, a pointed black hat that is part of her skull, and a high collar of gunsmoke. Spirit-bullet ammunition belts form around her waist. Her rifle-arm grows larger and more grotesque, with three additional conjoined barrels and a chain coiled around the weapon; her other hand becomes a steel skeleton. Only her fiery auburn mane remains unchanged. The transformation’s details vary between users, but in Arc’s case the changed body makes the technique’s spiritual origin legible in every weapon and piece of gear.

Power, Cost, and Limits

Gun Demon Incarnation offers a concentrated burst rather than an unlimited increase in strength. Arc says it multiplies the user’s strength and provides natural weapons, but warns that it is a double-edged technique. It lasts only until the user runs out of Qi or cancels it. When the transformation ends, the body needs time to recover, and the user cannot use techniques for a brief period. Its power therefore carries a vulnerability after the burst, making its duration and timing consequential rather than incidental.

Yuan estimates that his early version could last about ten or eleven minutes at the rate it consumed his Qi. Every technique he used shortened that window. He regarded that span as potentially enough to carry him through a fight, but the reserve was plainly finite: the more he drew on the state, the sooner it would end. Later, he carefully avoids overtaxing it while rushing toward Battletown, because he expects to need it in the battle ahead. His restraint shows the practical side of the transformation: access to greater force does not remove the need to manage its cost.

The body’s connection to the soul also shapes Yuan’s understanding of how the technique works. Arc’s account emphasizes alignment between bullet-core, flesh, and spiritual reflection. Yuan experiences a moment of self-awareness beyond instinct during his transformation, though it lasts less than a second before he returns to reality in his changed body. The briefness of the revelation contrasts with the lasting physical consequence. The technique makes self-knowledge tangible, even when the moment of knowing is fleeting.

Yuan Guang’s Transformations

Yuan’s first transformation takes days of cycling to complete. The second takes only seconds. When it comes, his arms and head turn into weapons and the thrusters on his back drive him forward with greater velocity than before. He overtakes the racer brothers in a sonic boom that scatters dust and ashes. The contrast in preparation time establishes a concrete change in his command of the technique: what once required sustained effort can later be invoked almost immediately, and the resulting body gives him a dramatic increase in speed.

The form also becomes part of Yuan’s decisions about where he can help. He knows that he is not strong enough to challenge Manhattan directly, yet he refuses to hide while Arc faces that opponent. He reaches Battletown without overtaxing the transformation, hoping to distract Manhattan at a critical moment while Orient and Holster prepare their counterattack. His objective is limited by his awareness of the difference in strength, but the technique lets him take part in the danger rather than withdraw from it.

In later confrontations, Yuan invokes the transformation again. He activates it while threatening to send an enemy back to Hell, and later agrees to proceed while gathering what remains of his Qi. These activations keep the technique associated with moments of immediate conflict, but they also emphasize how closely its use depends on his available reserves. At this stage, power and depletion remain joined: the form can be called upon, but it still draws on what Yuan has left.

Arc and the Technique’s Wider Meaning

Gun Demon Incarnation is not exclusive to Yuan. Arc names the technique as the choice to engrave into his core and flesh, explains its risks, and later appears in her own transformed state. Her embodiment shows that the technique does not impose one fixed silhouette. Instead, its weapons and attire take a form specific to the user’s spirit, while the shared transformation turns the body into an expression of that inner shape.

For Yuan, this has particular resonance because he had accepted being born without the potential for a Qi core. He once understood himself as one of the Scraps who served cultivators, and even after becoming a First Coil cultivator he felt an unexpected shame when identifying himself that way. Gun Demon Incarnation carries his cultivation beyond a simple change in rank: his soul, bullet-core, and physical body become aligned, and his body acquires the means to express that alignment as weapons. The technique does not erase the history of his limits; it makes the difference between those limits and his transformed state visible.

Final Change

The decisive change comes when Yuan wakes in a body he describes as healed and perfected. His arms end in miniguns and cannons, thrusters wait on his back, and a smoking cannon rests on his forehead. He is again in Gun Demon Incarnation, but it no longer demands Qi. The earlier condition—that the form lasts only while Yuan can sustain its cost—has given way to a transformation that his soul can maintain without that payment.

Yuan explains the change by distinguishing himself from The Gun: it is part of him, but he has become greater than it. He names his new identity the Gunman. In this ending, Gun Demon Incarnation ceases to be merely a temporary technique that borrows power at the expense of later recovery. It becomes Yuan Guang’s natural state, and his transcending the need for a human-shaped safety vessel makes the transformation the physical sign of a more fundamental alteration in who he is.
