When Beverly left Tom, he was furious. He beat her friend Kay McCall to get information about Beverly's whereabouts. Learning she had gone to Derry, Tom flew to Bangor, bought a car, and drove to Derry, determined to find her.
The Search
Tom checked into a motel and began searching for Beverly. He was consumed by rage and jealousy, especially when he learned about Bill Denbrough. He bought a carton of cigarettes, planning to force Beverly to eat them as punishment.
The Encounter with It
While searching, Tom was drawn into the sewers by It's influence. He saw the deadlights and died of shock, his brain hemorrhaging. His body was found in It's lair, a victim of his own hatred.
The Death

The Final Vision
Tom Rogan, guided by It, entered the sewers. He saw the deadlights and his mind was destroyed. He died instantly, his body crumpled at the base of the web where Audra hung. His death was unnoticed by the Losers, who were focused on the battle.
The Aftermath
After the battle, Beverly filed a missing person report on Tom, but his body was never found. She was free from his abuse at last. Tom's death was a fitting end for a man who had lived by violence.
The Symbol
Tom Rogan represented the domestic abuse that Beverly had endured. His death symbolized her liberation from the cycle of violence that had plagued her life. She could finally move on.
