In the final confrontations of both 1958 and 1985, the Losers' Club faced It not as a clown, werewolf, or mummy, but as a monstrous Spider, a form that their minds could barely comprehend. This creature was not merely a disguise; it was the closest approximation their human consciousness could grasp of It's true, unspeakable nature—a being of pure, chaotic energy from beyond the macroverse.

The Spider of 1958: The First Battle

In August 1958, the seven children of the Losers' Club tracked It to Its subterranean lair beneath Derry. There, they encountered a gigantic Spider, roughly fifteen feet high, with legs as thick as a man's thigh and eyes like malevolent rubies. Its body was covered in coarse black hair, and it possessed a stinger that dripped a living, writhing poison. The Spider was pregnant, its belly grotesquely swollen with an egg-sac containing Its spawn. This detail, understood only by Stanley Uris, underscored the cyclical nature of the horror: It was not just a predator but a breeding entity, ensuring its return. The children, armed only with their belief and a single silver slug fired from a slingshot, managed to wound the creature, driving it deep into the earth. The Spider's blood, black ichor, pooled on the stone floor as it retreated, but it was not killed. The Losers, exhausted and terrified, left it to heal and sleep for another twenty-seven years.

The Spider of 1985: The Final Confrontation

In May 1985, the adult Losers, now reduced to five after Stanley Uris's suicide, returned to the same lair. The Spider was waiting, older and more desperate, but still a nightmarish vision of black, spiny legs and a dripping stinger. It had captured Bill Denbrough's wife, Audra, and held her suspended in its web, catatonic from exposure to the deadlights. The battle was brutal and immediate. Eddie Kaspbrak, with his broken arm, charged the Spider, triggering his aspirator into its eye and then down its throat, a final act of defiance that cost him his arm and his life. Richie Tozier, using his Voices, engaged the creature in the mental Ritual of Chüd, buying Bill precious time. Bill, driven by rage and grief, plunged his fists into the Spider's body, found its heart, and crushed it. The Spider let out a final, fading shriek and collapsed, its reign of terror finally ended.

The Eggs and the Aftermath

As the Spider died, its body began to decay, and the web holding Audra collapsed. Ben Hanscom, following the trail of the retreating creature, discovered a trail of Its eggs, each containing a living spiderling.
