Burgundy
MabinogionBurgundy appears briefly in the account of Maxen Wledig’s return campaign to Rome: it is one of the lands he overcame on the way to the city.
Reference in the Narrative
After Maxen had remained in Britain for seven years, the Romans made a new emperor, who sent him a threatening letter. Maxen then set out for Rome with his army. The narrative names France and Burgundy among the territories he vanquished, alongside the other lands along his route, before he encamped before Rome. Burgundy is thus recorded as part of the campaign’s sequence of conquests, not as a separately described setting.
