Kadagidi territory

Peacemaker

Kadagidi territory is a politically charged setting linked to both the Kadagidi estate and a township on an old rail route. Its significance in the crisis comes from the convergence of Guild intelligence, suspected violence, and the possibility that evidence gathered there could reshape the standing of entire clans.

The estate and the Guild’s intelligence

The Kadagidi estate was a focus of concern after the Guild in exile supplied information about Haikuti’s involvement in the attack on Tabini at Taiben. The exiled members knew what Haikuti had done and provided names for surveillance; subsequent checks confirmed information exchanged with them. Banichi and Algini expected trouble when they went to the estate, but Banichi did not disclose that expectation to Bren. He was weighing the chance to build a clear case against the Kadagidi against his prior clashes with Haikuti, while also protecting the source and recognizing that the intelligence still lacked absolute proof.

Political stakes

Ilisidi had documentation and witnesses that could make the disbanding of the Kadagidi and Ajuri clans a possible outcome. The possibility placed the territory within a larger political struggle over the consequences of the coup and threats to the Guild system: evidence connected to the Kadagidi could become grounds for action against two clans, not merely a local investigation.

The railway approach

The Kadagidi township is identified as a possible destination on the northern end of an old route running up to Padi Valley. The Red Train’s movement on an eastbound track usually used for freight prompted speculation about whether it was headed toward the old southern route or instead toward the Kadagidi township. Both routes remained feasible until the next switchpoint, making the switch a potential first indication that the operation had been exposed. The train’s intended destination was part of the story given to the Transportation Guild, which knew—or had to be persuaded it knew—where trains were going.
