Rowland's arrival in New York and shopping for Myra

Rowland and Myra arrive in New York. He is surrounded by reporters on the dock but refuses to talk. He secures Mrs. Selfridge's address from the steamship company and then takes Myra to a department store. With his last sixteen dollars, he buys her a new dress, shoes, stockings, underclothing, and a hat. He is penniless again but determined to present the child well to her mother. This scene shows Rowland's selflessness and his desire to do right by the child.
