First Church of Christ in Mission Hills

First Church of Christ in Mission Hills, California, is the setting of Norma Jeane Baker’s marriage to Bucky Glazer on June 19, 1942. The church gives the wedding a formal, sacred setting, but the gathering’s imbalance—many Glazer relatives and church members, few guests from Norma Jeane’s side—makes the ceremony an especially revealing portrait of her uncertain belonging.
