Siferra kills Balik

In a daze, Siferra returns to her office at the university. She finds Balik 338, who has also survived the night. He is unhinged and attempts to rape her. In a fit of rage and self-defense, Siferra beats him to death with a club. The act is a brutal awakening to the new, lawless world. She then flees into the forest, carrying only her archaeological charts.
