She is cold and pragmatic, while he is emotional and reluctant. The First Signs of Respect As Grace makes breakthroughs, Stratt begins to rely on him. She involves him in key decisions. He starts to see her as a necessary evil, but he never fully trusts her. Their relationship is a power struggle that eventually ends with her forcing him onto the mission.

The Final Betrayal The Imprisonment Stratt orders Grace's arrest and imprisonment. She visits him to explain her reasoning. She calls him a coward, and he admits his fear. She uses a French amnesia drug to ensure he forgets his resistance. It is a violation of his autonomy. The Justification Stratt believes that the survival of humanity outweighs any individual rights. She is willing to sacrifice her own morality for the greater good. Grace later remembers everything and feels a mix of anger and grudging understanding. The Aftermath Grace never confronts Stratt again. He remains on Erid, while Stratt likely faced prosecution. Their relationship ends unresolved, but Grace acknowledges that her methods, however brutal, were necessary. He respects her resolve even as he resents her actions.
