Erebor
Erebor, known in the Common Speech as the Lonely Mountain, stands as one of the most storied and consequential places in the history of Middle-earth. It is the ancient seat of the Dwarven kings, a realm carved into the living rock of a solitary peak in the far east, beyond the Misty Mountains and the great river Anduin. Its fame, however, rests not merely on its grandeur but on the treasure it once held—the dwarf-hoards of the Kings under the Mountain—and on the chain of events that treasure unleashed, events that would ultimately shape the fate of the entire Third Age and the War of the Ring.
