Shadow and Wing
WoodwalkersShadow and Wing are raven shapeshifters among the students at Clearwater High. The available scenes identify Shadow as a young raven and show the pair working together in raven form as lookouts; Shadow also takes part in a classroom exercise. Their appearances are brief, but they place the ravens within the school’s everyday community rather than at its margins.
Identity and Introduction
Shadow is explicitly described as a young raven. In another scene, Shadow and Wing are both perched above the school entrance in raven form, watching for the arrival of human visitors. The evidence gives no further individual description of Wing, and does not assign the pair distinct temperaments or backgrounds.
Work at School
During a lesson about facial expressions, Cliff draws an angry face on the board while Shadow supplies its captions. Shadow labels visible features including a furrowed brow, narrowed eyes, and a red complexion. The students copy the completed material into their notebooks beside a happy face, and Shadow and Cliff each receive a plus. Shadow’s contribution makes the exercise collaborative: one student provides the drawing, while the raven supplies words for reading its expression.
Lookouts and Narrative Role
When Carag’s adoptive family is due at Clearwater High, Shadow and Wing take up an elevated watch in raven form. They alert Carag that the visitors seem to be arriving and ask about the color of their car. The exchange makes their position useful to the school’s warning system: they can watch the approach from above and pass on what they see. Their scene also links the ravens’ animal form to the school’s effort to manage human visitors, while the classroom episode shows them participating in ordinary student life.
