Lord Voldemort's Request

Dumbledore shows Harry two more memories. The first, from the house-elf Hokey, shows Voldemort (then Tom Riddle) working at Borgin and Burkes and visiting the wealthy witch Hepzibah Smith. He charms her into showing him Hufflepuff's cup and Slytherin's locket, which he later steals, murdering her and framing Hokey. The second memory is Dumbledore's own, showing a later meeting where Voldemort, now a powerful Dark wizard, requests the Defense Against the Dark Arts teaching post at Hogwarts. Dumbledore refuses, knowing Voldemort's true intentions. The meeting ends with Voldemort's anger and Dumbledore's sadness. Dumbledore explains that Voldemort likely created multiple Horcruxes, using significant magical objects.
