Persuasion of Horace Slughorn

Dumbledore takes Harry to the village of Budleigh Babberton to recruit Horace Slughorn, a former Hogwarts professor, back into teaching. They find Slughorn's house seemingly ransacked, but it is a ruse; Slughorn himself is hiding, disguised as an armchair. Dumbledore exposes him, and after a conversation where Slughorn expresses reluctance due to the danger, Harry's presence and words about Dumbledore's protection convince him to accept the post of Potions master. Slughorn agrees, and they leave. Dumbledore later explains to Harry that Slughorn is a collector of talented and influential people, and warns Harry that he will try to add him to his collection.
