The O.W.L. Results Arrive

Harry wakes to find Ron, Hermione, and Ginny in his room. They discuss the new teacher, Horace Slughorn, and the presence of Fleur Delacour, who is engaged to Bill Weasley. Ginny and Hermione express their dislike for Fleur, calling her 'Phlegm'. The conversation is interrupted by the arrival of their O.W.L. results via owl. Harry passes with an 'Outstanding' in Defense Against the Dark Arts and 'Exceeds Expectations' in Potions, among others. Hermione achieves ten 'Outstandings' and one 'Exceeds Expectations'. Ron also passes, failing only Divination and History of Magic. Harry is disappointed that his Potions grade is not high enough to continue to N.E.W.T. level under Snape.
