Dinner at Rosings

Elizabeth, along with Sir William Lucas and Maria, is invited to dine at Rosings. Lady Catherine proves to be an arrogant and domineering woman who interrogates Elizabeth about her family and education. Elizabeth remains composed and answers her impertinent questions with spirit, refusing to be intimidated. The dinner establishes Lady Catherine as a formidable antagonist and provides a contrast between her overbearing pride and Elizabeth's quiet dignity.
