Robbie's Arrest

After a night of interrogation and formal statements, the police arrest Robbie Turner. He is handcuffed and led to a police car. As he is about to be driven away, Cecilia runs out to him. She tells him she believes him and loves him, and she promises to wait for him. 'I'll wait for you. Come back,' she says. This moment of public declaration is a powerful testament to their love, but it is also a heartbreaking farewell. Robbie is taken away, his life and future stolen by a false accusation. The arrest is the culmination of Briony's crime and the beginning of Robbie's long ordeal.
