Gordon's Later Life and Reflection

Gordon Lachance is now a successful writer, married with children. He reflects on his childhood friends, their deaths, and the events of that Labor Day weekend. He sees Ace Merrill, now a fat, ordinary man, and realizes how much time has passed. The story ends with Gordon's meditation on memory, loss, and the enduring power of the past.
