Quaro

Quaro was a young Dothraki rider, one of the warriors of Khal Drogo's vast khalasar. He was selected to serve in the personal khas of Daenerys Targaryen, the khaleesi, a guard of four young men sworn to protect her. Alongside Jhogo, Aggo, and Rakharo, Quaro formed part of the small, loyal retinue that accompanied Daenerys on her journey across the Dothraki sea and into the sacred city of Vaes Dothrak.

Role in the Khalasar and Loyalty to Daenerys

Quaro was present at many of the key moments of Daenerys's early life among the Dothraki. He was among the khas who rode with her through the Western Market in Vaes Dothrak, where she encountered the poisoned wine offered by a merchant in the employ of the Usurper, Robert Baratheon. When Daenerys commanded her khas to stop the rape of a Lhazareen woman after the sacking of a town, Quaro was one of the warriors who moved to obey her, despite the Dothraki custom that such acts were a warrior's reward. He was also present during the dark bloodmagic ritual performed by Mirri Maz Duur to save Khal Drogo's life, helping to hold the great red stallion as the maegi cut its throat and let its blood pour into Drogo's bath.

Death

Quaro's loyalty to Daenerys ultimately cost him his life. After the bloodmagic ritual, the bloodrider Qotho, enraged by what he saw as a violation of Dothraki law, moved to attack the tent where Mirri Maz Duur was chanting. When Daenerys commanded her khas to stop him, Quaro stepped forward to obey. Qotho, a far more experienced and brutal warrior, spun with his arakh and struck Quaro low under the arm, the curved blade biting up through leather and skin, through muscle and rib bone. Blood fountained from the young rider as he reeled backward, gasping. He died shortly after, pleading for water as the battle around him raged on. His death was one of the many prices paid for the desperate attempt to save Khal Drogo's life.
