Decision to rescue Rocky

Grace realizes that Rocky's ship, the Blip-A, has also been disabled by the Taumoeba contamination. Despite knowing that rescuing Rocky will use up his remaining fuel and food, leaving him stranded, Grace decides to turn back and find his friend. This decision is a profound moral choice, prioritizing the life of an alien over his own survival and the slim chance of returning to Earth. It solidifies the deep bond between the two characters and sets the stage for the novel's final act.
