a few days after returning from Amsterdam
Confession to Hobie
Theo returns to New York and confesses everything to Hobie: the art theft, the furniture fraud, the shooting in Amsterdam. He expects to be cast out, but Hobie, after a period of shock and anger, forgives him. Hobie understands the chain of events that led Theo to this point and acknowledges his own role in enabling the fraud. Their bond is tested but ultimately strengthened by this act of radical honesty. Theo is finally free from the weight of his secrets.
