Antoine leaves for war

Antoine reports for duty, leaving Vianne and Sophie at Le Jardin. Vianne is devastated, feeling unprepared to be alone. She and her best friend Rachel de Champlain, whose husband Marc has also been mobilized, try to support each other. Vianne remembers her own father's abandonment after her mother's death and fears the same for her family.
