Isabelle expelled from finishing school

Isabelle Rossignol, Vianne's rebellious younger sister, is expelled from yet another finishing school for her insubordination. She is sent to Paris to live with her father, Julien Rossignol, who is cold and distant. Isabelle longs for his love but is met with indifference, a pattern that has defined her life since their mother's death.
