flashback to age four, during the hostage crisis
Charlie's childhood memory: breaking storm windows
Charlie recalls a day in the fall of 1962 when he, at age four, threw rocks at storm windows his father was preparing to install. His father caught him, threw him to the ground, and later lied to his mother about it. His mother defended Charlie, and Charlie began to hate his father. This memory is shared with the class as part of his explanation for his actions.
