Encounter with the Trolls
Lost and hungry, the company spots a light in the woods. Bilbo is sent to investigate and encounters three trolls: William, Bert, and Tom. He is caught trying to pick William's pocket. The dwarves are captured one by one, but Gandalf returns and mimics the trolls' voices, keeping them arguing until dawn turns them to stone. The company is rescued, and they discover the trolls' cave, finding swords and gold.
