Arrival on Arrakis

The Atreides family arrives on Arrakis and takes up residence in the old government mansion in Arrakeen. Lady Jessica oversees the unpacking and meets the Fremen housekeeper Shadout Mapes, who presents her with a crysknife as a test. Jessica's knowledge of the Fremen legends and her Bene Gesserit training convince Mapes that she is the 'One' from prophecy. The encounter establishes Jessica's connection with the Fremen and introduces the significance of the crysknife.
