The Duke's Death

Duke Leto, captured and drugged, is brought before Baron Harkonnen. He remembers the poison tooth and, when the Baron is close, bites down on it, releasing a deadly gas. The Baron narrowly escapes, but Piter de Vries and others are killed. The Duke dies, but his act of defiance ensures that the Baron's victory is tainted. Paul and Jessica are believed dead, but they have escaped.
