On Giedi Prime, Baron Vladimir Harkonnen, his nephew Feyd-Rautha, and the twisted Mentat Piter de Vries discuss their plan to destroy House Atreides. The Baron reveals that the Emperor has ordered the Atreides to take over Arrakis, a trap designed to eliminate Duke Leto. They plan to use Dr. Yueh, a Suk doctor with Imperial Conditioning, as their agent, and to frame Lady Jessica as a traitor. The Baron also mentions the use of Sardaukar disguised as Harkonnen troops. This scene establishes the central conspiracy that drives the novel's conflict.
