The Spice Mining Rescue

Duke Leto, Paul, Gurney Halleck, and Dr. Kynes fly to observe spice mining operations. They witness a sandworm attack on a harvester factory. The Duke orders a rescue, and they manage to save the crew, but the harvester is destroyed. The event demonstrates the dangers of Arrakis and the Duke's concern for his men. Paul's observation of the Fremen survivors and his growing prescience hint at his future connection to the desert people.
