Encounter with Jack Favell

The narrator finds Jack Favell in the morning-room. He is familiar and offensive, calling Maxim 'Max' and asking about the bride. He says he came to see Mrs Danvers. The narrator is uncomfortable. Mrs Danvers appears and introduces him. Favell asks the narrator not to tell Maxim about his visit. After he leaves, the narrator suspects Mrs Danvers of dishonesty and decides to explore the west wing.
