Dorian examines the portrait after his good deed
Dorian Gray goes to the locked room to see if his good deed has altered the portrait. To his horror, he finds no improvement; instead, the face now shows hypocrisy and cunning, and the hand is stained with blood. He realizes his motive was vanity and curiosity, not true goodness, and that the portrait will never change.
