early the next morning, after Dorian returns home
First change in the portrait
Dorian Gray returns home at dawn and notices a subtle change in his portrait: the mouth now has a touch of cruelty. Horrified, he realizes his wish has come true—the portrait will bear the marks of his sins while he remains young. He resolves to reform and reconcile with Sibyl, but is interrupted by Lord Henry's visit.
