Flight from King's Landing The Escape Tyrion Lannister kills his father Tywin and escapes with Varys's help. He is smuggled out of the Red Keep in a wine cask. The Voyage Tyrion is taken aboard a ship bound for Pentos. He drinks heavily to forget his crimes and his lost love Tysha. Arrival in Pentos Tyrion arrives in Pentos and meets Illyrio Mopatis, who plans to use him in the Targaryen restoration plot.

Meeting Illyrio Mopatis The Fat Man's Plans Illyrio reveals his involvement with the Targaryen cause. He intends to send Tyrion to Daenerys Targaryen to serve as her advisor. The Mushroom Test Illyrio offers Tyrion poisoned mushrooms as a test of his will to live. Tyrion refuses, showing he still has a desire to survive. The Journey Begins Tyrion agrees to join the conspiracy. He leaves Pentos with Illyrio, heading east to meet Griff and Young Griff.

Traveling with Griff and Young Griff The Shy Maid Tyrion joins the crew of the Shy Maid, a poleboat traveling down the Rhoyne. He meets Griff (Jon Connington), Young Griff (Aegon Targaryen), and others. The Sorrows The boat passes through the Sorrows, a cursed area. They are attacked by stone men. Tyrion saves Young Griff from a stone man but falls into the river. Revealing Identities Tyrion deduces that Young Griff is actually Aegon Targaryen, son of Rhaegar. He plays cyvasse with the prince and advises him to go west instead of east.

Captured by Jorah Mormont

Captured by Jorah Mormont The Brothel Tyrion visits a brothel in Selhorys, where he is recognized and captured by Jorah Mormont, who intends to deliver him to Daenerys. The Journey to Volantis Jorah drags Tyrion to Volantis, keeping him in chains. Tyrion tries to manipulate Jorah but fails. The Widow of the Waterfront In Volantis, Jorah seeks passage to Meereen. The widow of the waterfront helps them, but Tyrion is nearly killed by a dwarf girl named Penny, whose brother was mistaken for Tyrion and killed.

Sold into Slavery The Storm The ship carrying Tyrion and Jorah is wrecked in a storm. They are rescued by a slaver and sold at auction in Yunkai. The Auction Tyrion and Penny are sold to Yezzan zo Qaggaz, a wealthy Yunkish lord. They become part of his grotesquerie. Life as a Slave Tyrion and Penny perform as jousting dwarfs. They are forced to entertain Yezzan's guests. Tyrion plots escape.

Joining the Second Sons

Joining the Second Sons Escape from Yezzan When Yezzan falls ill with the pale mare, Tyrion and Penny escape and seek refuge with the Second Sons, a sellsword company. Negotiating with Brown Ben Plumm Tyrion convinces Brown Ben Plumm to take them in. He signs contracts promising future payment, using his Lannister name. A New Identity Tyrion becomes a member of the Second Sons. He prepares for the coming battle, knowing he is on the losing side and planning to turn his cloak again.
