Denzo D'Han
Denzo D'Han is a captain of the Windblown, the free company commanded by the Tattered Prince. Known among the sellswords as the warrior bard, he serves as the Tattered Prince's left hand, alongside Caggo Corpsekiller, who is the right. He is a veteran of a hundred battles, a seasoned warrior whose experience lends weight to his judgments within the company's councils.
Role in the Windblown
Denzo D'Han is one of the two principal captains of the Windblown, standing high in the Tattered Prince's regard. When the company's Westerosi members are summoned to the command tent and told they are to ride east, swing wide about Yunkai, and go over to the dragon queen's patrols, Denzo D'Han is present to explain the strategy. "Let us be frank," he says, speaking to the assembled sellswords. "The Yunkai'i do not inspire confidence. Whatever the outcome of this war, the Windblown should share in the spoils of victory. Our prince is wise to keep all roads open." His words frame the defection as a calculated hedge, not a betrayal.
The Dragon-Stealing Conspiracy
Weeks later, when Quentyn Martell and his Dornish companions seek a secret meeting with the Tattered Prince, Denzo D'Han is again present. The meeting takes place in an undercellar beneath a winesink in Meereen, where the Tattered Prince sits nursing a cup of wine. Denzo D'Han bars the door once the Dornishmen are inside, then takes up a position in front of it, arms crossed against his chest. When Quentyn proposes to hire the Windblown to help him steal a dragon, Denzo D'Han whistles in reaction, and when the Tattered Prince names his price—Pentos—Denzo D'Han is present to hear the negotiation. He does not speak again during the exchange, but his presence as the Tattered Prince's trusted lieutenant underscores the gravity of the conspiracy.
