Discovery of the Portrait of Mircalla

A shipment of restored family paintings arrived from Gratz. Among them was a portrait of a woman named Mircalla, Countess Karnstein, dated 1698. Laura was astonished to see that the portrait was an exact likeness of Carmilla, down to a small mole on her throat. Carmilla, however, showed little interest, though she claimed to be descended from the Karnsteins. Laura asked to hang the portrait in her room, and her father agreed. This discovery deepened the mystery surrounding Carmilla's identity and her connection to the ancient, extinct Karnstein family.
