The Confrontation at the Chapel

As the group waited in the chapel, Carmilla arrived. The General, recognizing her as Millarca, seized a woodman's hatchet and attacked her. Carmilla transformed into a horrifying, crouching figure and dodged the blow, then caught the General's wrist in a vice-like grip, causing him to drop the axe. She then vanished. The General, shaken, identified her as the vampire Mircalla, Countess Karnstein, and urged Laura to flee. This violent confrontation confirmed Carmilla's true nature and set the stage for her destruction.
