Willy's affair with The Woman

As Willy talks to Linda about feeling lonely on the road, the memory of his mistress, The Woman, intrudes. She appears in a hotel room, laughing and flirting with Willy. She tells him she picked him because of his sense of humor, and she promises to put him right through to the buyers. Willy gives her stockings, a gift that later becomes a symbol of his betrayal. The scene ends with The Woman's laughter blending with Linda's, and Willy angrily tells Linda to stop mending stockings, a guilty reaction to his own infidelity.
