Juliana and Joe drive to Denver

Juliana Frink and Joe Cinnadella drive to Denver, where they go on a shopping spree. Joe buys Juliana expensive clothes, including a blue Italian dress. He also gets his hair cut and dyed blond, which surprises Juliana. They plan to visit Hawthorne Abendsen, the author of The Grasshopper Lies Heavy, in Cheyenne. Juliana is excited but also uneasy about Joe's intensity.
