Terce of the Second Day
Conversations with Aymaro and Salvatore
William and Adso overhear a quarrel in the kitchen involving Salvatore, a strange, multilingual monk. Aymaro of Alessandria, a cynical Italian monk, hints at corruption and a conspiracy of foreigners controlling the library. He suggests that the deaths are connected to a power struggle within the abbey. William learns more about the tensions between the Italian and foreign monks.
