Jorge Eats the Book and Starts the Fire

Jorge, determined to destroy the book, begins tearing out its pages and eating them. In the ensuing struggle, the lamp is knocked over, setting the library on fire. Jorge laughs maniacally as the flames spread. William and Adso are forced to flee, leaving Jorge and the book to be consumed by the fire. The library, the greatest in Christendom, is doomed.
