Night of the Second Day / Lauds of the Third Day

Discovery of Berengar's Body

After the library expedition, William and Adso find Berengar of Arundel drowned in the balneary. His body shows signs of poisoning, with blackened fingers and tongue. This confirms that the poison used on Venantius was also used on Berengar. The abbot is informed, and the community is thrown into further despair.
