Doctor's First Visit and Poisoning

The doctor arrives at Kino's house, claiming he was out earlier. He examines Coyotito, falsely declares the poison has gone inward, and gives the baby a capsule of white powder. After the doctor leaves, Coyotito becomes violently ill, vomiting and convulsing. Kino suspects the doctor poisoned the baby to create a need for his services and to find the pearl.
