Kino Attacks and Kills the Trackers

The trackers camp by the spring. Kino strips off his white clothes to avoid detection and creeps down the rock face. He plans to kill the watcher first and take the rifle. Just as he is about to attack, Coyotito cries out from the cave. The watcher hears it and, thinking it is a coyote, fires his rifle toward the cave. Kino leaps, kills the watcher with his knife, then shoots the other two trackers with the rifle. He then hears Juana's hysterical cry from the cave.
