Arya's Conflict with Joffrey

Arya Stark and her friend Mycah, the butcher's boy, are practicing swordplay when Prince Joffrey confronts them. Joffrey threatens Mycah, and Arya attacks him to protect her friend. Nymeria, Arya's direwolf, bites Joffrey, and Arya throws his sword into the river. To appease the Lannisters, Eddard is forced to kill Sansa's wolf, Lady, and Mycah is later killed by the Hound. This event deepens the rift between the Starks and Lannisters and traumatizes both Arya and Sansa.
