Opening Ceremonies

Katniss and Peeta ride in a chariot through the Capitol streets, wearing costumes that ignite with synthetic flames. Cinna sets their capes and headdresses on fire, and they hold hands as instructed. The crowd is captivated, and Katniss feels a flicker of hope as she gains attention and potential sponsors. They are presented to President Snow at the City Circle. The other tributes are jealous, and Katniss realizes she has become a memorable figure. The ceremony ends with the national anthem, and they are taken to the Training Center.
