Katniss wakes in a hospital bed in the Capitol, her wounds healed by advanced medicine. She learns Peeta survived and lost a leg. She is reunited with her prep team, Cinna, Effie, and Haymitch. Haymitch warns her that the Capitol is furious about the berry incident and that she must continue to play the role of a girl madly in love to avoid punishment. Katniss is terrified but agrees. She prepares for the victory ceremony and final interview.
